Description
Hello! Thank you for taking a look at my listing. I have been working in the the mental health field for 16 years. I opened my own group practice in 2012 where I utilize expressive arts modalities, play therapy, EMDR, and mindfulness techniques with the individuals and families I see. I also conduct workshops with professionals and individuals in the community who are interested in exploring their own creativity for the purposes of self-care and introspection. I have a very diverse background, having worked in medical/research settings, social services, CSB’s, and the private sector. As a clinical supervisor, I believe that my relationship with my supervisees is the most important factor and I strive to tailor my approach to meet each individual’s unique learning style. I am humble, approachable, and laid-back. I do, however, believe that supervision is crucial to becoming a clinically sound and effective therapist and take it seriously. I look forward to learning and growing from each of my supervisees.
I have had extensive training in the areas of trauma, attachment, and mindfulness. I have also been trained in the use of expressive arts, guided imagery, and mandalas in counseling. I actively incorporate sand tray work in my practice with both adults and with children. Through the years, I have learned that “talk therapy” is often “lacking” with many of the individuals I see with traumatic experiences in their past and have had some wonderful successes with incorporating more creative interventions. I am an EMDRIA-certified EMDR Clinician, a Certified Trauma Practitioner, and am certified to perform auricular acupuncture. I am a strict believer that “fit” is the foundation of effective therapy and have trained with and follow Scott D. Miller’s sound research in exploring Feedback Informed Treatment.
